Andy Murray has announced he will be competing at the Olympics this year, despite it being close to the US Open.

The tennis competition at the Olympics in Beijing is scheduled to finish on August 17th and the US Open begins on August 27th but this will not put Murray off.

"I'm definitely going to play at the Olympics. It's something that not all athletes get the chance to do in their career. It's an honour to represent your country and I'm looking forward to it," said Murray.

He added that he is hoping for a good run this year and not have "any problems with injury".

Murray will next travel to Spain for the Valencia Open next week. The Scot will be looking or a good result to put him back in the top-20 world rankings positions.

A defeat in the second round of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami recently pushed the 20-year-old to 22 in the rankings.
