2008 Wimbledon Men's Final Preview
The singles draw at the 2008 Wimbledon tennis tournament is set for a spectacular finale today as Roger Federer takes on Rafael Nadal on centre court.
For Federer the match marks the opportunity to become the most successful player in the history of Wimbledon by winning his 6th consecutive singles title. Federer has had a very quiet season by his own high standards, and confidence may be an issue as he takes on the all-conquering Rafael Nadal.
In fact Nadal’s season has been the mirror opposite of Federer’s, as Nadal has swept up five titles, including three Masters titles, a grand slam title and his first ever lawn title at the Queen’s Club. Furthermore Nadal has beaten Federer in all three of their finals encounters this year.
Despite Nadal’s form, William Hill are backing Roger Federer to make history today, pricing him as short odds favourite at 8/11. Nadal is priced at 11/10, largely as a result of his modest track record on lawn courts.
The 2008 Wimbledon men’s final marks the third consecutive year that the talented duo have clashed in the final of the tournament, and will be the 7th occasion overall that the two have met in the final of a grand slam – breaking the record previously shared by the Wilander/Lendl and Sampras/Agassi rivalries.
We recommend William Hill for the best tennis betting experience.
