Four-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal believes the agony of losing out in a third successive Roland Garos final will not effect world number one Roger Federer's resolve as he attempts to win a record sixth straight Wimbledon.

Nadal, talking in the run-up to his first round tie at the All England Club with Andreas Beck, said that as in the last two years, Federer is capable of bouncing back for the grass grandslam.

He commented: "It's not the first time he lost a final; it's the third he lost at Roland Garros.

Adding: "And then the other years, he won Wimbledon without suffering too much. He could have been affected this time, but he went to Halle and didn't lose a set. That's the great mentality he has."

Federer got his tournament off to a convincing start with a straight sets win over Slovakian Dominic Hrbarty, 6-3 6-2 6-2.

While home favourite Andy Murray kicks off with a first round match against Fabrice Santoro.
