Roddick to face Federer in Wimbledon final

Andy Murray left millions of British tennis fans feeling gutted on Friday, after losing his Wimbledon semifinal 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-5) to America’s Andy Roddick. The Scot’s legion of fans had been hoping that he’d become the first Briton since Fred Perry to lift the Wimbledon title.

"I had to play my best tennis today,” Roddick said after the match. “I can't say enough good things about Andy's game but I can play some tennis sometimes. Not many people gave me a chance but I knew if I stayed the course I had a shot."

Roddick will face Roger Federer in the final of the 2009 Wimbledon Open Championships, after the second seed eliminated Tommy Haas in straight sets in his semifinal, taking the match 7-6 (7/3), 7-5, 6-3.

"Tommy played great so I knew that there was a danger,” Federer said of his match on Friday. “I'm happy with my performance and it's unbelievable to be in another final. I have had a lot of pressure over the years but I am looking forward to another great match and a chance to get into the history books."
