Andy Murray has been handed a seemingly safe route into the second round of the upcoming US Open after being drawn against an opponent from outside the world's top 100.

Argentine Sergio Roitman will provide Murray with his first grand-slam test since being defeated in the Wimbledon quarter-finals be eventual champion Rafael Nadal.

Soon-to-be world number one Rafael Nadal booked a second round Olympic tennis tournament match-up with Australia's Lleyton Hewitt after beating Italian Potito Starace in three sets.

The Spaniard faced a tough test over two hours and 15 minutes as he eventually overcame the world number 74 6-2 3-6 6-2.
